Alcohol a Likely Cause for Hair Loss

I know this will be a controversial post, but it is very likely that drinking alcohol causes or at least contributes to men and women’s hair loss. If you recall or read my previous post discussing poor nutrition, I wrote about the leading cause of Male Pattern Baldness being DHT in the blood. DHT is a powerful sex hormone primarily found in men.

Science already knows that both the kidneys and liver are the two most important organs of the body’s Endocrine System responsible for regulating hormones that flow in the blood. Essentially these organs break down excess hormones and deposit them as waste in sweat, urine, and feces.

Causes of Less Effective Hormone Regulation

We also know that as people age, these vital organs can become clogged with many years of toxins built up.

In today’s society, people are consuming more processed foods, refined sugar overload, and alcohol which is collectively worst than ever. All of these greatly overwork the liver and damage it. When the liver is both overworked and damaged, this drastically reduces it’s effectiveness to do its job of filtering out excess hormones such as DHT from the blood. This abnormally high amount of DHT in the blood then builds up in the scalp and prevents proper blood flow to feed the hair follicles nutrients.

Closer Look At Alcohol & Hair Loss

Healthy and unhealthy view of alcohol's effects.

We already know that alcohol can damage the liver and alcoholics can develop serious liver damage known as Cirrhosis. Take a look at the picture above. It shows an example of a healthy liver and a unhealthy liver with Cirrhosis. You can’t honestly think that this disgusting unhealthy liver will regulate hormone levels in the blood as well as a healthy liver!

Even though most people that are balding will never have a liver as bad as this, you can count on an inefficient liver to focus it’s duties on the most important functions first. Removing excess DHT is not one of them.

If you haven’t already heard,  alcoholics are known to get drunk much quicker than regular adults because their liver is damaged from alcohol abuse. If their damaged liver can’t even focus on removing alcohol like healthy people, you can count on it doing a poor job of filtering out the excess DHT hormone.

How to Fix Your Liver and Prevent More Hair Loss

The first suggestion to fixing your liver to stop hair loss is an obvious one- stop or limit your drinking. As I stated before, you should also stop eating unhealthy foods that are processed and have refined sugars. Even doing this might not be enough and let’s face it; we love to drink every once in a while. I have always been a big drinker.

So in addition to these suggestions, you will also want to eat foods which are proven to regenerate healthy liver cells and allow you to still drink alcohol in moderation.

I will be releasing lists of foods and supplements in my ebook which will not only regenerate a healthy liver, but to do this faster to prevent hair loss sooner than later. Plus, it gets better because some of them foods I will mention will also create a chemical process in the liver which prevents the damaging effects alcohol has on the liver and grow your hair, all while drinking.
